Staying Connected

I have been on a long term project (started Feb 2008) and am going to be here for another 6-8 months.  When you are on a local project, you are usually at the client 5 days a week. Being there 5 days a week for a long period of time, initially made me feel very lost and out of touch with others within my Capgemini network. You will go months on end without visiting your office or seeing those outside your project.

On long term projects, it is very easy to get lost in the mayhem of everyday delivery. One of the most important lessons I have learnt is the need to stay connected with those outside of your project. Be it as simple as taking a couple of hours off from the client to catch up with those in the office or as complicated as running a bake off involving 20-30 people!

Noone is going to force you to do this, as delivering the clients is what is expected of you. But hey, in today's competetive environment, in one of the most competitive places on earth, when is doing just what is expected enough? Manage your time well, take a couple of hours to refresh your systems and connect with others. It will not only keep you sane, but also help you stand out in front of your superiors.

That is so relevant but yet unspoken of. Though the associates are looped in the email communications, people tend to get out of touch with the process developments and other initiatives with in the company.

On a different note, you may want to put a spam blocked or moderation to stop the spam coming in even after having captchas.
